What does server sizing do?
The first VPS/cloud question is “how many vCPU, GB of RAM, GB of disk?”. This tool turns a workload (blog, company web, shop, mail, database, VPN, Docker, game) plus a rough concurrent-user count into a resource ruler, then maps it onto four OwnHost Cloud Server NVMe SKUs (MINI, STANDARD, PRO, ENTERPRISE).
The result is not a cart or an SLA. Burst vCPU, panel licenses (cPanel/Plesk), backups and IOPS are separate. Measurement (CPU steal, RAM, disk) is the truth; the ruler is a first-order order of magnitude.

What grows with each workload?
Blogs and static web are light; behind a CDN Mini or Standard is enough. E-commerce PHP/Node + MySQL on one box wants RAM and CPU; around 150 concurrent it slides to Pro. Mail queues and antispam want RAM; Mini’s 2 GB is tight. Databases want RAM and NVMe; 80 GB fills fast.
VPN is usually Mini; the line and UDP/443 matter more. Docker or cPanel/Plesk dislike less than 2 vCPU / 4 GB. Games (Minecraft, CS2) want unshared CPU and RAM; more players means Pro/Enterprise.
When the catalog is too small
Needs above 4 vCPU / 8 GB / 120 GB sit outside this example ladder: dedicated, a second app server, or a separate DB node. Horizontal scale (a load balancer) is out of scope for the ruler.
NVMe is faster than network disks; backups are extra capacity. IPv4+IPv6 and root are standard on OwnHost cloud. Panel licenses are not in the hardware price.
